All Is Forgiven

by on August 26, 2013

In Ernest Hemingway’s “The Capital of the World”, he tells the story of a father and his teenage son.

Their relationship had been difficult and eventually had broken. When the rebellious son, “Matthew” had ran away from home, the father began a long search to find him.

Finally, the father placed an ad in the local newspaper, hoping that his son would read it and respond to it. The ad read:

Dear Matthew,

Please meet me in front of the newspaper office at noon. All is forgiven.

Love, Dad

Hemingway says that the next day at noon, in front of the newspaper office there were over 800 “Matthews”, all seeking forgiveness from their fathers.

Are you like one of those “Matthews”? Carrying around a load of guilt, wanting forgiveness, but not knowing where to find it?

You have a Father in heaven who loves you very much, and He has already made the first move. Just as Matthew’s father ran the ad in the newspaper, so God sent His son to die on a cross!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

…And along with all those “Matthews” who showed up at the newspaper office, you’re invited to come as well!

Have a blessed week!

Expect a Miracle,

J Garcia
